School Garden Mini-Grants

The Kentucky Farm to School Network was excited to invite Kentucky preK – 12 grade schools to apply for a school garden mini-grant opportunity. Five schools received mini-grants of $5000 to establish school gardens and implement nutrition and cooking education using the produce grown in the school gardens.  Student interns from the University of Kentucky worked with the awarded school districts to plan, establish, maintain, and evaluate the school garden, and complete nutrition and cooking education, from February 2022 – May 2023.

Funding for this project is provided by the Kentucky Horticulture Council through a Food and Agriculture Service Learning Project (FASLP) grant from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA).
