Farm-to-School 101

$12Are you or your farmers interested in growing your businesses? Are you or your farmers interested in selling your farm products to local schools for use in their lunch and breakfast programs? Then, our upcoming training – Farm to School 101 – is for you! Join Community Farm Alliance and Kentucky Department of Agriculture for a training to help you understand the ins and outs of working with school food service directors to increase your sales. Tina Garland of KDA will provide an overview of product quality considerations, packaging, pricing and delivery, and scheduling. Kentucky Horticulture Council and Kentucky Center For Agriculture and Rural Development (KCARD) will also have resources available to support your growing operation. All participants will also receive a jump drive with farm to school information to take home.
Farm to School 101 will be held Monday April 22 in London, KY at the Laurel County Courthouse Annex at 107 S. Broad Street from 5:30-8:30. Registration opens at 5PM. The event will include dinner catered by Wayne Riley of the Laurel County African American Heritage Center and costs $12.
